Coach: Carlos DUNGA (BRA)

Brazil coach Carlos Dunga has announced his 23-man squad for the World Cup finals in South Africa this summer and there are a few surprises. As was widely anticipated in the weeks building up to the announcement, there is no place for AC Milan star Ronaldinho.

Dunga has also omitted Flamengo striker Adriano and Corinthians pair Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos, all of whom had faint hopes of making the squad. But the biggest eyebrow-raisers are the omission of two of Brazil's rising stars in Alexandre Pato and Neymar, who are also staying at home.

The core of the team from the qualifying campaign remains though, while there are also call-ups for Tottenham Hotspur 'keeper Heurelho Gomes, Cruzeiro veteran Gilberto and, perhaps most surprisingly, Wolfsburg striker Grafite.

Goalkeepers: Julio Cesar (Inter Milan), Doni (AS Roma), Gomes (Tottenham)

Coach: Vicente DEL BOSQUE (ESP)

Vicente del Bosque confirmed his final selection on Thursday afternoon and both Barca players were included despite having never won a cap for Spain, along with Athletic Bilbao midfielder Javi Martinez. Valdes joins the squad as third-choice goalkeeper, behind Iker Casillas and Pepe Reina, having edged in front of Diego Lopez and David De Gea in Del Bosque's plans.

Pedro, 22, is also included after scoring 22 goals in all competitions for Barcelona this season and the forward joins Jesus Navas, Juan Manuel Mata, Fernando Llorente, Fernando Torres and David Villa in Del Bosque's attacking ranks. Torres and Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas have both been named in the squad despite nursing injuries that prevented them from featuring at the conclusion of the Premier League season.

The coach was forced to cut seven players and most notable among those was midfielder Marcos Senna, who played a key role in the country's success at Euro 2008. Fellow Villarreal star Santi Cazorla and Fenerbahce striker Dani Guiza also miss out despite their participation at Austria and Switzerland. Osasuna defender Cesar Azpilicueta and Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo make up the remainder of the seven players that have been culled from Del Bosque's preliminary squad.

Del Bosque admits he has a ''slight concern'' over his side's walking wounde. When asked how the affected players were doing at today's squad announcement in Madrid, Del Bosque said: ''There is a slight concern but they are here and that's because the reports from the medical staff and physical trainers are positive and we are confident they will be at 100% at the start of tournament.''

Speaking about the three newcomers, Del Bosque said: ''They have had a very good season and they are replacing others who, due to circumstances, have had a worse season, and they are coming in to cover all possibilities.''We are thinking with the head but the heart also helps. In relation to the Confederations Cup we have made four changes, and eight with respect to the European Championships. Almost 75% of the squad that were champions of Europe are in the list.''

With regards to the players that missed out, Del Bosque admits it was not easy to end the World Cup dreams of those still hoping to make the final cut. ''Of course it's tough to discard the players who were in the first list. (But) now we need to look to the future. These are the best players for us,'' the former Real Madrid coach said. Llorente and Martinez were thrilled to make the squad.

Llorente, 25, said: "To play in the World Cup is the best a professional footballer can hope for. As well as that it is also good for Athletic, a sign that they are doing things well. My dream has come true. I've had it since a child and it's great to be able to fulfil it. "It gives me great joy and I can't wait to start and join up with my team-mates,'' he told Radio Marca.

The 21-year-old Martinez added: "This is good news. I will be there with another team-mate, which is very positive for Athletic. I cannot explain what it means for a professional footballer, but I never imagined I would be this lucky.'' Spain, who have never won the World Cup, will face Chile, Honduras and Switzerland in Group H.

Coach: Bert VAN MARWIJK (NED)

Netherlands coach Bert van Marwijk has announced his 23-man squad for the 2010 World Cup. The Dutch gaffer cut four more names from his provisional roster after the 2-1 friendly win against Mexico on Wednesday.

Defenders Vurnon Anita (Ajax) and Ron Vlaar (Feyenoord), midfielder Orlando Engelaar (PSV) and attacker Jeremain Lens (AZ) have all just missed out on this summer's tournament.

Anita made his official Oranje debut against the Mexicans, but failed to impress in Wednesday's game, just like Engelaar. Vlaar isn't fully match fit due to hamstring problems, while the uncapped Lens lost the battle for a spot in the final squad to Liverpool's Ryan Babel.

Netherlands have to deal with Cameroon, Denmark and Japan in the group phase of the World Cup. They start the tournament with a match against Denmark on June 14.

Goalkeepers: Sander Boschker (FC Twente), Maarten Stekelenburg (Ajax), Michel Vorm (FC Utrecht)

Coach: Marcello LIPPI (ITA)

Italy have named their final squad for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Marcello Lippi released his provisional 30-man squad in early May and has since let go of Juventus duo Fabio Grosso and Antonio Candreva. The Azzurri tactician has now released five more players, to fine tune his final 23-man World Cup squad.

The unlucky players who will miss out on the high-profile tournament are Salvatore Sirigu, Mattia Cassani, Andrea Cossu, Marco Borriello and Giuseppe Rossi. Mauro Camoranesi suffered a late injury this afternoon, but was still included in the squad.

The Italo-Argentine said, "I felt a tweak in my knee. I hope it is nothing serious." The midfielder is expected to recover in time for the Azzurri's opening group stage clash with Paraguay on June 14. The Azzurri won the tournament in 2006, but after a dreadful showing in last year's Confederations Cup, many have doubts as to whether they will be able to defend their crown.

Coach: Joachim LOEW (GER)

Germany coach Joachim Loew named his final squad for the 2010 World Cup on Tuesday evening. Due to recent injuries to key players Michael Ballack, Christian Traesch, and Heiko Westermann, Loew had only one cut to make in order to trim his provisional squad down to 23 men.

Left with just two natural central midfielders in his squad, the Germany gaffer appeared set to omit a striker, but instead left out Hoffenheim right back Andreas Beck. After Westermann, a versatile defender and midfielder, was forced to withdraw with injury, there was speculation that veteran enforcer Torsten Frings would earn a call-up. However, Loew opted to trust youth and stick with members of his provisional squad.

Among those included in Loew's final squad are international newcomers Dennis Aogo, Holger Badstuber, Jerome Boateng, Sami Khedira, Toni Kroos, and Thomas Mueller. Additionally, youngsters Mesut Ozil, Marko Marin and Sami Khedira were included, giving die Mannschaft a distinctly youthful look.

Germany, led by new captain Philipp Lahm, are set to take on Bosnia and Herzegovina on Thursday in their final warm-up match before the world's greatest contest begins. Ten days later, the three-time World Cup winners begin their quest for glory against Australia.

Goalkeepers: Joerg Butt (Bayern Munich), Manuel Neuer (Schalke), Tim Wiese (Werder Bremen)

Argentina Final Squad

Best result: Winners (1978 & 1986)
Coach: Diego MARADONA (ARG)

Diego Maradona has selected his final 23-man Argentina squad for this summer's World Cup, with a few surprises.Inter Milan striker Diego Milito has made the final cut, overcoming widespread fears that he would be overlooked despite a scintillating domestic season with Inter Milan.

There was bad news for Newcastle United defender Fabrizio Collocini, who was one of the seven players cut from Maradona's provisional 30-man squad. There was good news for his club team-mate Jonas Guttierrez, however, who was included in the squad to travel to South Africa despite a season spent in the Championship.

Other English-based players named in the squad include the Liverpool duo of Javier Mascherano and Maxi Rodriguez, along with Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez. Maradona named six players based in Argentina in his squad, including former Chelsea and Manchester United veteran Juan Sebastian Veron and veteran Boca Juniors forward Martin Palermo.

But perhaps the most surprising inclusion is that of Palermo youngster Javier Pastore, the young attacking midfielder who has forced his way into the international reckoning after a stellar first season in European club football.

The players included in the provisional squad of 30 that failed to make the cut were: Coloccini, Jose Sosa, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Jesus Datolo, Juan Mercier, Sebastian Blanco and Juan Insaurralde.

Goalkeepers: Sergio Romero (AZ Alkmaar), Mariano Andujar (Catania), Diego Pozo (Colon)

Defenders: Nicolas Burdisso (Roma), Martin Demichelis (Bayern Munich), Walter Samuel (Inter Milan), Gabriel Heinze (Marseille), Nicolas Otamendi (Vélez Sarsfield), Clemente Rodriguez (Estudiantes), Ariel Garce (Colon)

England Final Squad

Fifa Ranking: 8 (1,068 Points)
First appearance: 1950
No. of appearances (inc 2010): 13
Best result: Winners (1966)
Coach: Fabio CAPELLO (ITA)

The final 23 man squad for England to depart for South Africa is announced. Capello has opted for experience at the top level, with no real shocks.

Surprise inclusion as a 17 year old of Theo Walcott at the 2006 World Cup, is the surprise omission by Fabio Capello in 2010. The pace down the wings in the England attack will now come from Shaun Wright Phillips and Aaron Lennon.

In the striker position there is no room for Darren Bent consistently one of the Premierships top scorers. Emile Heskey is included due to his support for Rooney up front. In midfield Chelsea winger Joe Cole is recalled as a player who can create something from nothing in the final third of the pitch.

The recalled center back Ledley King also retains his place with Tottenham team mate Huddlestone missing out. Another inclusion, Matthew Upson at West Ham United might feel lucky at making the final team.

The question about whether Lampard and Gerrard can play together in the same midfield was questioned by Coach Fabio Capello in the 2-1 friendly victory against Japan. It looks like a holding midfielder in Gareth Barry or Michael Carrick will provide cover if Capello decides to play both in the center.

Gerrard looked out of sorts on the left side of midfield and many contend he is best utilized just off the striker Wayne Rooney, in a similar capacity to how he plays behind Fernando Torres in the Liverpool attack.England face USA, Slovenia and Algeria in the group stages at the World Cup.

Goalkeepers: David James (Portsmouth), Robert Green (West Ham United), Joe Hart (Manchester City)

Defenders: Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United), John Terry (Chelsea), Ledley King (Tottenham Hotspur), Jamie Carragher (Liverpool), Matthew Upson (West Ham United), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Stephen Warnock (Aston Villa), Glen Johnson (Liverpool)

Forwards: Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Peter Crouch (Tottenham Hotspur), Emile Heskey (Aston Villa), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham Hotspur)

First appearance: 1930

Best result: Winners (1998)
Coach: Raymond DOMENECH (FRA)

France coach Raymond Domenech has elected to keep uncapped rookies Marc Planus and Mathieu Valbuena in his squad for the World Cup, though he will have to cut one further player from his roster before submitting his final list.

After naming a panel of 30 players last Tuesday night, Domenech has now trimmed his squad to 24, with the fitness of Arsenal centre-back William Gallas still in serious doubt due to a calf problem.

Planus, who has been a cornerstone of Bordeaux’s rise to prominence in Ligue 1 over the last three years, has been given the nod as back-up ahead of Lille’s Adil Rami, who had previously appeared in several squads.

Rami is one of six players cut, along with Lille goalkeeper Mickael Landreau, Marseille winger Hatem Ben Arfa and the Stade Rennais trio of Rod Fanni, Yann M’Vila and Jimmy Briand.

Greece coach Otto Rehhagel has announced his confirmed squad for the 2010 World Cup. The German gaffer cut seven players from his provisional 30-man roster on Tuesday.

Giorgos Tzavellas, Kostas Manolas, Giorgos Galitsios, Stergos Marinos, Grigoris Makos, Lazaros Christodoulopoulos and Kostas Mitroglou all failed to make the final cut and will miss this summer's tournament.

Giourkas Seitaridis and Christos Patsatzoglou have proven their fitness to gain inclusion in the final squad. Rehhagel had concerns over the pair due to their lack of regular first team action this term.

Greece lock horns with Argentina, Nigeria and South Korea in the group phase of the World Cup. They start the tournament with a match against South Korea on June 12.

Coach: Bob BRADLEY (USA)

USA coach Bob Bradley has confirmed his final 23-man squad for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. The USA World Cup squad largely comprises familiar faces, with veterans such as Steve Cherundolo and of course Landon Donovan rubbing shoulders with youngsters like Jozy Altidore.

However, there is one notable omission in the form of Brian Ching, who has been unable to win back the coach's favour.

The Americans travel to Africa hoping to improve upon their dismal showing in Germany in 2006, when they managed just a solitary point, ironically against eventual winners Italy.

Goalkeepers: Brad Guzan (Aston Villa), Marcus Hahnemann (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Tim Howard (Everton)

Serbia coach Radomir Antic has dropped fourth choice goalkeeper Zeljko Brkic in selecting his final 23-man squad for the World Cup finals.

After training with a group of 24 at their training camp in Austria, the Vojvodina Novi Sad was axed leaving club-mate Dragan Mrdja and Radosav Petrovic of Partisan Belgrade as the only two home-based players in the final 23.

"I had to leave one player out and such a decision is never easy to make. I told Zeljko that being in the training camp should be a stimulus for his career and that I still will count on him," Antic told reporters. Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez has announced his final 23-man squad for the World Cup and insisted his side are well prepared following a final day of training in Montevideo. “Our aim is to do a good job at the World Cup,” he told Fifa.com. “I have it very clear in my mind what we need to do.”

Trabarez had named a provisional squad of 26 and so only needed to cut three players ahead of FIFA’s deadline today, and River Plate midfielder Jorge Rodriguez, Nacional winger Alvaro Gonzalez and Catania striker Jorge Martinez were the unlucky trio.

La Celeste have been drawn in Group A with hosts South Africa, Mexico and France and Tabarez was confident ahead of their opening match against les Bleus.

“Certain players that may have arrived with less playing time like [Martin] Caceres still have two weeks to improve their condition,” said the coach. “We will begin working on Thursday focusing on the tactics and concepts before our opening game against France.”

The 29-year-old Zaragoza forward is understood to have a torn hamstring and although the exact extent of the injury is not yet known, Bielsa is obviously hopeful that Suazo will be available to play some part.

As a result, Colo Colo defender Roberto Cereceda is the final player to drop out of the squad. The 25-year-old was widely tipped as the player to miss out on the final selection. Chile start their World Cup campaign with the match against Honduras on June 16.

Tottenham's defensive duo Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Sebastien Bassong are included, along with Arsenal midfielder Alex Song. Coach: Rabah SAADANE (ALG)

Algerian national team coach Rabah Saadane has revealed his final roster for the 2010 World Cup. The squad is devoid of surprises considering that injuries have largely made most of the tough decisions for the coach.

The Fennecs suffered their most serious setback last week when the team’s medical staff determined that their influential Lazio playmaker Mourad Meghni would be unable to take part in the tournament considering that he hadn’t fully recovered from a nagging knee injury which will now require surgery.

The last player cut from the team was MC Alger goalkeeper Mohamed Lamine Zemmamouche after Slavia Sofia’s Raid M’Bolhi moved up in the pecking order. Meanwhile, none of the five reserve players who were included in the provisional squad such as Lazhar Hadj Aissa, Hocine Metref, and Khaled Lemmouchia (all ES Setif), Mohamned Meftah (JS Kabylie), and Amri Chadli (Kaiserslautern) made the final cut.

Highly-rated Palermo defender Simon Kjaer is also involved, despite sustaining an injury in the friendly against Senegal that initial reports suggested might rule him out of the early part of the tournament.

The exclusion of Christensen and Krohn-Dehli didn't come as much of a surprise, but Silberbauer recently stated that he was confident to make the Danish team for this summer's tournament. The All Whites will be led by Blackburn Rovers captain Ryan Nelsen at their first World Cup since 1982.In South Africa, New Zealand will take on Italy, Paraguay and Slovakia in Group F.
